After a long flight, the last thing most people want to do is stand in another line, figure out where to collect their luggage, and search for their driver in an unfamiliar airport.
That's where VIP airport meet and greet services can make a big difference.
Depending on the airport and service, someone may meet you when you arrive, help guide you through the terminal, assist with luggage, and coordinate your transfer.
But these services aren't always worth the additional cost.
I recommend them frequently, and I also tell clients when I think their money would be better spent elsewhere. Here's how I decide.
Depending on the airport and service provider, VIP meet and greet may include someone meeting you when you arrive, guiding you through the terminal, helping with luggage, coordinating your driver, or assisting with connections. And oftentimes, premium services that enable you to expedite immigration and security lines.
There are a few destinations where I almost always include Meet & Greet services because they make such a noticeable difference.
Turks & Caicos is one of the destinations where I'm most likely to recommend a meet-and-greet service, especially during peak travel periods. Providenciales Airport is small, and when several flights land around the same time, immigration lines can get long quickly. After spending the day traveling, the last thing most people want is to spend another hour waiting in an airport when they could be at the beach.
If you're arriving during a busy travel period, especially with children, I'd strongly consider adding the service. If you're landing during a quieter period, it may not make enough of a difference to justify the additional cost.
Aruba is another destination where I'd consider a meet-and-greet, particularly for families or larger groups arriving during busy travel periods. Having someone help coordinate your arrival and get everyone connected with their driver can make the process easier, especially when you're traveling with kids and multiple suitcases.
Aruba is another airport where arrival times can make a big difference. When multiple flights land close together, the airport can become crowded quickly.
I'd be more inclined to recommend meet and greet for families, larger groups, or travelers arriving during peak periods. For someone traveling alone on a quieter day, I'd be less likely to add it.
Tel Aviv is a little different from the other airports on this list. The biggest benefit of a meet-and-greet service isn't necessarily avoiding long lines. It's having someone who understands the airport's security procedures and can help you navigate the process.
For first-time visitors, especially those unfamiliar with Ben Gurion Airport, that extra guidance can be reassuring. VIP service options include Fast-Track, Gold Lounge Service, and Platinum Terminal, although I'd confirm current availability and what's included before booking. Keep in mind that security procedures still apply, regardless of which service you choose.
At Ben Gurion Airport, the value of meet and greet is often less about avoiding crowds and more about having someone familiar with the airport's procedures.
Security and airport processes can be more involved than travelers expect, so having assistance can make the experience feel much more manageable.
I'd especially consider it for first-time visitors or travelers who prefer additional support navigating an unfamiliar airport.
Rome is one of the airports where I’m most likely to recommend a meet-and-greet. Fiumicino is large, walking distances can be long, and after an overnight flight, wrangling children and luggage through the terminal isn’t how most people want to start their first morning in Italy.
A greeter can guide you through the airport, help with luggage where it’s included, and connect you with your driver. Instead of spending the first part of your trip figuring out airport logistics, you’re already on your way to your hotel.
Rome Fiumicino is a large airport, and after an overnight flight, navigating the terminal with children and luggage can be exhausting.
A meet and greet service can help guide you through the arrival process and coordinate the handoff to your driver, depending on what's included.
For families arriving after an overnight flight, this is one of the places I'd be most inclined to recommend it.

I’ve had clients arrive in Athens both with and without meet-and-greet services, and their experiences are a good example of why I don’t make the same recommendation for everyone.
On a busy summer arrival, a greeter who meets you, stays with you through baggage claim, and connects you with your driver can be genuinely valuable. Other clients landed when the airport was calm and felt they would have been fine on their own. The deciding factors are your arrival time, the season, your family size, and how comfortable you are navigating an unfamiliar airport.
If you’re landing in July with children, I’d add it. If you’re arriving midday in shoulder season, I’d likely skip it.
Cancun is another airport where I often recommend considering meet and greet, especially during busy arrival periods.
One of our clients staying at Rosewood Mayakoba used the service for both arrival and departure and found it particularly valuable when he landed.
Instead of navigating an unfamiliar airport and coordinating his transfer after a long travel day, he had someone helping guide the process from the beginning.
That's the kind of situation where I think the service can be worth it. It doesn't change the destination, but it can make the first hour of the trip significantly easier.

The airport isn't the only part of the equation. How you're traveling matters just as much.
Traveling with kids is one of the biggest reasons I'd consider adding a meet-and-greet service, especially after an overnight flight. When you're managing luggage, tired children, strollers, and everyone's carry-ons, having someone guide you through the airport and help coordinate your transfer can make a noticeable difference. It's one less thing to figure out when everyone is ready to get to the hotel.

If you have a tight connection at a large or unfamiliar airport, having someone guide you between terminals or help you find your next gate can be useful. Just make sure you understand exactly what's included. Not every service offers connection assistance, and a meet-and-greet can't guarantee you'll make your next flight if there are delays or long security lines.
Meet-and-greet services aren't only for arrivals. Departures can involve check-in, security, VAT refunds, and unfamiliar terminal layouts. Having someone familiar with the airport guide you through the process can make the last few hours of the trip much easier.
If VAT refund assistance is included, having someone walk you through the process can be especially helpful when you're trying to get everything done before your flight.
I use similar services at train stations, too. Arriving at a busy station in Paris, Milan, or Rome with several suitcases and ten minutes to find the right platform is a very different experience when someone who knows the station is with you. Having help with luggage and navigation can turn one of the more stressful parts of a trip into something much easier, which is exactly what you want.
Not every airport or traveler needs this service.
If you're traveling solo, packing light, or arriving at an airport that's generally easy to navigate, I'd probably skip the meet-and-greet. The same goes for quieter travel periods when lines are unlikely to be an issue. Prices vary depending on the airport and service, and sometimes the cost just isn't justified. I'd much rather see my clients put that money toward a great dinner, a private guide, or a room upgrade they'll enjoy throughout their stay.

VIP airport meet and greet isn't something I'd automatically add to every itinerary.
For families arriving after an overnight flight, travelers with tight connections, or anyone navigating a particularly busy or unfamiliar airport, it can be money well spent.
For a straightforward arrival at a smaller airport, I'd probably recommend putting that budget toward something else.
The goal isn't to add every luxury service available. It's to choose the ones that genuinely make your trip easier.
