A client and I were laughing recently about her last trip to Italy during our debrief call. She came home with hundreds of beautiful photos, but almost all of them were of her husband. Because she took every single photo.
And let’s be honest, husbands are not exactly known for their photography skills. You’ll either get one blurry photo, a badly cropped one, or a very enthusiastic but completely unusable angle.
So when she started planning her safari, she said she wasn’t making that mistake again. That’s when we had this conversation. Because this is something we see all the time!
Clients come back from incredible trips with stories of amazing meals, stunning views, and beautiful hotels but when they look through their photos, something feels off. There are very few images of everyone together. No real candid moments. Nothing that fully captures how the trip actually felt. When booking with Alo Travels, this will not be you, thanks to our partners at Flytography.
Why We Build This Into Well-Designed Itineraries
When we’re planning a trip, we’re not just thinking about where you’re staying or what you’re doing. We’re thinking about how the trip will feel while you’re in it and how you’ll remember it afterward. very traveler takes photos but the issue is that the photos don’t reflect the experience the way you think they will. Someone is always behind the camera. You’re rushing through moments to capture them. You’re handing your phone to a stranger and hoping for the best.
And over time, what clients tell us is this. They remember the trip, but they wish they had better photos of actually being in it.
As a result, we've started building in professional photography sessions through Flytographer, and it’s consistently one of the most meaningful parts of our clients’ trips. This allows you to be fully present while someone else captures memories of your trip for you.
What It Actually Feels Like
This is not a staged photoshoot. It’s usually 30–60 minutes depending on which package you pick, built into something you’re already doing. Walking through Paris, exploring Rome, heading to the beach in Cabo.
You meet a local photographer who knows the area, and instead of thinking about documenting the moment, you just experience it. Clients always expect it to feel awkward but I promise you, it does not!
Why This Works
From a planning perspective, this is one of those additions that does more than it seems like it would.
It removes the pressure of trying to capture everything yourself. It gives you something tangible to take home. And it preserves the feeling of the trip, not just what it looked like.
More importantly, it fits into your itinerary instead of adding to it. You can actually be present on the rest of your trip because you're not trying to squeeze in photos of everyone last minute too.
We usually recommend scheduling it early, around day 3. That gives you time to settle in, flexibility if weather shifts, and better photos because you’re more relaxed.
And truly, it’s quick. This isn’t something that takes over your day. It’s a short, seamless addition that blends into what you’re already doing.
Packages start at 30 minutes for $325, and your digital gallery is delivered within about 5 days.
The Objections We Hear
We hear the same things almost every time.
“We can just take our own photos.”
You absolutely can, and you should. But the difference is being in the moment versus documenting it. Clients end up with both, their own photos and the ones they actually print and keep.
“It feels expensive.”
When you look at the overall investment in a trip, this is a relatively small addition. But it’s one of the only parts of the trip that actually lasts beyond it.
“We’re not photogenic.”
This is the most common concern. And the irony is those clients end up loving their photos the most. The sessions are designed to feel natural, not posed.
“We don’t have time.”
It’s built into something you’re already doing. It doesn’t take away from the trip, it enhances it.
Why This Matters More Than People Expect
It's not lost on us how much are clients are investing into their travel. The flights, the hotels, the experiences. This is one of the only pieces that allows that investment to live on in a meaningful way.
It’s the difference between remembering a trip and having something that brings you back to it. We recommend this for all types of trips, honeymoons, family travel, milestone birthdays, anniversaries, because the value is the same. You’re capturing a moment that you won’t get back in the same way again. I promise you will not regret capturing these memories!
