The Packing Edit

Packing well isn’t about bringing more. It’s about bringing the things that actually make your trip easier. After years of traveling ourselves and helping clients plan trips around the world, these are the things we find ourselves packing, recommending, and talking about again and again. Some are especially helpful when traveling with kids, some make a long flight a little more comfortable, and others simply solve those annoying little travel problems you don’t think about until you’re already away. You definitely don’t need everything on this list. We’ll tell you what we love, who we think it’s actually useful for, and when we’d skip it, so you can decide what makes sense for your trip.

Table of Contents:

The Essentials

Everyday travel staples we recommend for nearly every trip.

In This Section:

Amazon Basics Travel Cubes

By the third hotel of a trip, the suitcase has basically turned into a "clean stuff, dirty stuff, and whatever's under all of it" situation. These fix that. Pack by person, by outfit, whatever makes sense to you. The point is that when you land somewhere new, you're lifting labeled cubes into a drawer instead of dumping a suitcase onto the bed and starting over.

Skip it if: it's a one-stop trip with a checked bag. Shop on Amazon → Amazon Basics Travel Cubes

* The Atlantic Large Checked Luggage covered below under The Family Essentials is also our go-to checked bag for longer trips.*

Case-Mate Jelly Tote Bag

This is the bag I actually grab for a beach or pool day instead of a "real" bag I'd be nervous to get sandy or wet. Sand shakes right out, a quick rinse handles the rest, and it's roomy enough for towels, sunscreen, and snacks without feeling like I'm lugging a suitcase down to the water.images (1)

Shop on Amazon → Case-Mate Jelly Tote Bag

BAGSMART Jewelry Organizer

This solves a problem most people don't think about until it happens: a stray earring backing lost somewhere in a suitcase, and a pair you can't wear for the rest of the trip. Keeping each piece in its own spot means no digging through a tangled pile of necklaces every morning just to find the one you actually packed for that day.

Shop on Amazon → BAGSMART Jewelry Organizer

Elemsy Spray Bottles

These spray bottles are perfect for skincare and haircare instead of the full-size bottles taking up half of my bag. They're TSA-friendly and I never have to worry about something exploding in my suitcase mid-flight.

Shop on Amazon → Elemsy Spray Bottles

Travel Bottles

Same idea, just for everything the spray bottles don't cover. Lotion, conditioner, whatever needs a squeeze bottle instead of a spray top. Between the two, I've basically stopped checking a bag for the sake of my toiletries.

Shop on Amazon → 16 pack of Travel Bottles

FYY Daily Pill Organizer

Between kids' vitamins, my own stuff, and the occasional allergy medicine, this is the difference between an organized case and a Ziploc bag of loose pills. They're labeled by day, so I'm not trying to remember if I already took something.

Shop on Amazon → FYY Daily Pill Organizer

Neakasa Travel Steamer

I've made peace with the fact that nothing comes out of a suitcase wrinkle-free. This is small enough to pack without a second thought, and five minutes with it saves me from showing up to dinner looking like I slept in my clothes.

Shop on Amazon → Neakasa Travel Steamer

Samsonite Luggage Freeform

This is the bag that holds up through more connecting flights and rental car trunks than most luggage can handle. Not glamorous, just reliable luggage that's still in one piece by the time you get home.

Shop on Amazon → Samsonite Luggage Freeform

The Family Essentials

These are the pieces that have earned a permanent spot in our own suitcases, trip after trip.

In This Section:

MiaMily Ride-On Suitcase

By age two, most toddlers have hit their limit for walking through a terminal, and that's exactly when the MiaMily Ride-On Suitcase earns its keep. Buckle your child onto the seat and pull it like normal luggage. No stroller to gate-check, no meltdown three gates from your flight.

Skip it if: your child is under 2  Shop on Amazon → MiaMily Ride-On Suitcase

Hiccapop Inflatable Travel Bed

Hotel rollaways cost extra almost everywhere, and a sofa bed is a gamble for a younger kid who can roll into the crack between cushions. This solves both. It's your child's own bed, so a multi-city trip doesn't mean a different sleep setup at every stop. For a baby still in a crib full-time, we'd stick with a real hotel crib. This is really a toddler solution.

Skip it if: your child is under 2

Shop on Amazon → Hiccapop Inflatable Travel Bed

*For infants, check out the Guava Family Lotus Travel Crib listed below.*

WAYB Pico Travel Car Seat

Wrestling a bulky convertible seat through security, then in and out of a rental car, is one of the more exhausting parts of traveling with kids. The WAYB Pico Travel Car Seat weighs eight pounds, folds flat enough to check as a personal item, and installs in under a minute with LATCH or a seatbelt. It's forward-facing only, built for kids 22 to 50 pounds, so it won't work for a rear-facing infant.

Skip it if: your child is still rear-facing

Shop on Amazon → WAYB Pico Travel Car Seat

Guava Family Lotus Travel Crib

Hotel cribs are so inconsistent. This one opens and folds in under 30 seconds with no metal frame to pinch your fingers on. It also rolls into its own case to gate-check, which makes traveling with kids and multiple bags that much easier. This earns its spot in the suitcase on longer trips or multi-stop itineraries.

Shop on Amazon → Guava Family Lotus Travel Crib

SlumberPod

Anyone who's traveled with a baby knows the real problem isn't the flight, it's the shared hotel room after bedtime. The SlumberPod zips over a Pack 'n Play or travel crib and blocks out enough light and sound that your baby can go down at their normal bedtime, while the rest of you keep the lights on, finish dinner, or watch TV instead of sitting in the dark by 7 p.m.

Best for: shared hotel rooms with a baby or toddler on a nap or bedtime schedule.

Shop on Amazon → SlumberPod

Atlantic Large Checked Luggage

One large, well-organized checked bag beats two mediocre ones, especially on trips with tight connections. The interior straps and built-in dividers make it realistic to pack for a family for a week without living out of a jumbled duffel. The Atlantic Large Checked Luggage is a genuinely large bag.

Skip it if: it's just for a long weekend.
Shop on Amazon → Atlantic Large Checked Luggage

Aynat Fun Magnetic Drawing

No markers rolling under the seat, no crayon shavings in the diaper bag. Just a screen that can be drawn on and erased in the middle of a flight or road trip. This one buys more quiet minutes than almost anything else on this list.

Best for: children ages 3 to 6.

Shop on Amazon → Aynat Fun Magnetic Drawing

Thinkbaby Sunscreen

The size of this baby sunscreen actually makes it through security, which matters more than the formula on a travel day. One less thing to check a bag for.

Best for: babies and younger children.

Shop on Amazon → Thinkbaby Sunscreen

Sun Bum Face Stick for Kids

A stick instead of a squeeze bottle means reapplying at the pool doesn't turn into a wrestling match with sunscreen-covered hands touching everything.

Best for: babies and younger children. Shop on Amazon → Sun Bum Face Stick

Melissa & Doug Sticker Book

Genuinely one of the best "keep a toddler quiet for twenty minutes" tools that exists, and there's no cap to lose or marker to dry out.

Best for: children ages 3 to 6.

Shop on Amazon → Melissa & Doug Sticker Books

Mothercould Sunscreen Brush

Putting sunscreen on a squirming kid is one of the most universally dreaded parts of a beach day, and this makes it about 50% less of a fight.

Best for: babies and younger children.images (3)

Shop on Amazon → Mothercould Sunscreen Brush

Pushpeel Sensory Fidget Toy

Another good toy option for the kid who needs their hands busy to sit still. We rotate a few of these so there's always a "new" one for a long travel day.

Best for: children ages 3 to 6.

81sx2lGxZ-L

Shop on Amazon → Pushpeel Sensory Fidget Toy

Komarc StickiKubes

Reusable sticker cubes mean no loose stickers stuck to the car seat or someone else's belongings by the end of the trip.

Best for: children ages 3 and older. Shop on Amazon → Komarc StickiKubes

DINO MINI Sticker Book

Cheap enough that losing half of them under an airplane seat isn't a tragedy, and there are enough to actually last the whole trip.

Best for: children ages 3 and older.

https://link.amazon/B0iYE6j34

Shop on Amazon → DINO MINI Sticker Book

Lite Brite Touch

A quiet-hours activity that still feels like a treat, not just another screen. Great for hotel nights when everyone needs to wind down without a TV.

Best for: children ages 6 and older. 2355-Lite-Brite-Touch-Lifestyle1-web-800x800

Shop on Amazon → Lite Brite Touch

Mothercould Snack Box

This snack box keeps snacks from turning into crumbs at the bottom of a bag, and doling them out compartment by compartment is more useful than handing over a whole bag at once.

Best for: road trips and plane rides.

Shop on Amazon → Mothercould Snack Box

Alasou Suction Cup Toys

These stick right to a window and buy real entertainment time, especially useful for the kid in the window seat who's already asked "are we there yet" four times.

Best for: children ages 3 and older.
710nxzjImhL._AC_UF894,1000_QL80_ Shop on Amazon → Alasou Suction Cup Toys

EOOUT Mesh Zipper Pouches

These have basically replaced Ziploc bags for snacks in our diaper bag. See-through, reusable, and they don't end up as trash halfway through the trip.

Shop on Amazon → EOOUT Mesh Zipper Pouches

Travel Tech

The right tech doesn't need to be exciting. It just needs to work when you actually need it to.

In This Section:

Apple AirTag

We hide Apple AirTags in luggage, backpacks, and even stroller bags, mostly for peace of mind at baggage claim, but they've also been the difference between finding a bag an airline lost and never seeing it again.

Shop on Amazon → Apple AirTags

Anker Portable Charger

Portable chargers are a genuine "never travel without one" for us. Once kids' tablets and headphones are in the mix, something is always dying at the worst possible moment.

Shop on Amazon → Anker Portable Charger

Kids' Bluetooth Headphones

We've tested more pairs than we'd like to admit and these stayed comfortable through a full flight, the volume is capped at a safe level, and the battery has never died before the flight ends.

Shop on Amazon → Kids' Bluetooth headphones for flights

Amazon Kids Tablet

The case survives drops, the battery survives a full cross-country flight, and downloading a few episodes before you leave the house buys quiet hours instead of a fight over a shared iPad. The Amazon Kids Tablet is built for younger kids, mostly toddler through elementary age, with parental controls and screen time limits already set up.fire-hd-10-kids-edition-lifestyle-3

Shop on Amazon → Amazon Kids Tablet

Kindle Paperwhite

This is the pick for anyone who'd rather read than scroll once the seatbelt sign is off.  kindle-paperwhite-lifestyle-68d286b742353

Shop on Amazon → Kindle Paperwhite

Bluetooth Headphone Adapter

The thing nobody tells you before your first flight with Bluetooth headphones: most planes don't have Bluetooth, so your $200 headphones are suddenly useless unless you packed the wired ones too. This Bluetooth Adapter plugs into the seatback jack and lets your actual headphones connect right away.

Shop on Amazon → Bluetooth Adapter

Beats Headphones

These are what's actually on my head for the flight, not just tucked in the bag as a backup. Comfortable enough for a full cross-country trip, and switching between the kids' shows without untangling a cord makes the whole flight feel less chaotic. solo4-pdp-p14.jpg.large.2x

Shop on Amazon → Beats Headphones

AirTag Passport Case

Triple-checking the diaper bag for passports before even leaving the house is a familiar routine for a lot of parents. This passport case cuts that out almost entirely. Less time worrying about where it is, more time actually enjoying the trip.

Shop on Amazon → AirTag Passport Case

In-Flight Comfort

What we suggest for long-haul flights to stay comfortable and arrive feeling your best.

In This Section:

Travel Day Bra

I’ve been rebuying this Natori bra for nearly 10 years, and it’s still the best. It disappears completely under white t-shirts, but the lace trim keeps it from feeling utilitarian. If you’re looking for something with the thinnest straps that’s sort of a sports bra hybrid for under tank tops, the Loren Bra is the one.

Shop on Nordstrom and Zappos → Natori Bra, Loren Bra

Warm Weather Escapes

Pieces we love for beach destinations and resort stays.

In This Section:

Beach Towel Clips

Towel Clips are a small item that solves a genuinely annoying problem: a beach towel that won't stay put on a lounger in any breeze. Clip it down once and stop thinking about it for the rest of the day.

Shop on Amazon → Beach Towel Clips

Speedo Kids Goggles

These are the difference between a kid who spends the whole beach day squinting and rubbing salt water out of their eyes and one who's happily swimming around. They're also inexpensive so losing a pair in the ocean isn't a tragedy. images (2)

Shop on Amazon → Speedo Kids Goggles

Dock & Bay Beach Towels

These Beach Towels dry fast enough that you're not packing a still-damp towel into the beach bag two days in a row. They also fold down small enough that I can actually fit one per kid without the bag looking like we're moving in.BEACHGROUP25-SS26-TOWLB-DES-ENDSUMR-5SET-009-SQ

Shop on Amazon → Dock & Bay Beach Towels

Stanley Madeline Cooler

If you're skeptical about purchasing an expensive cooler, this is the one that will change your mind. The ice still holds up hours later, snacks don't turn into a melted mess, and it's not so bulky that hauling it down to the beach feels like a workout. 1527517_232063_131495_ig2ar9woB

Shop on Amazon → Stanley Madeline Cooler

Case-Mate Waterproof Phone Pouch

This is the waterproof phone pouch that goes everywhere on beach or pool days. I throw in my phone, room key, a little cash, and it's actually dry when I pull it back out.

Picture Perfect Moments

For clients who want to capture their trip in a meaningful way and bring home the best souvenir of all time.

Book your Flytographer session here.

Disney Parks Essentials

The parks come with their own packing list, mostly dictated by heat, long days, and a lot of walking.

In This Section:

Disney Clothing & Accessories

Simple Modern Minnie Backpack

The Simple Modern Minnie Backpack actually holds up through 12-hour park days, unlike the "cute" theme-park backpacks that tend to fall apart fast. It fits water bottles, ponchos, and snacks without the zipper giving out by day two.

Shop on Amazon → Simple Modern Minnie Backpack

Disney BaubleBar Necklace

For something small but meaningful, the Disney BaubleBar collection is the little extra that makes a great surprise on the first morning of the trip. No project required, just a fun thing to hand over on the way out the door.118878_m_RS_SQ_2026_93b1ff2d-3630-45ab-b707-b55b2d3f98d0

Shop on Amazon → Disney BaubleBar

Disney BaubleBar Ears

If you want ears that feel a little more special than what you'll grab inside the park, BaubleBar is usually where I'd look first. They're especially good for an adult Disney trip, a girls' trip, or anyone who wants something Disney without it feeling overly costume-y.

Shop BaubleBar → Disney BaubleBar Ears

Made By Molly Clothing

There's a very specific Disney-parent dilemma: your child wants to dress like a princess, and you know she's also about to walk several miles in Florida heat. This is exactly why I love Made By Molly. Their Disney-inspired pieces still feel special enough for the parks but they're actually built for a real Disney day, not just a photo op. Comfortable through the humidity, the rides, and the hours on your feet, so nobody's tugging at a costume by mid-afternoon.

Shop Made By Molly → Pink Princess Athletic Set

Little Adventures Clothing

If your child wants the full princess moment, these are such a good alternative to a traditional costume dress. They're soft and comfortable enough to actually wear around the parks all day, but still feel special enough for the occasion. They're also a smart move if you're doing Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Your child can arrive already in her princess dress instead of paying for one as part of the package. She still gets the full transformation, just without the extra cost of the outfit itself.

Shop Little Adventures → Rapunzel Party Dress

Minnie Clips

Headbands can get uncomfortable after hours in the parks, especially for younger kids. For the little ones, I'd skip the headband altogether and go with these cute ones from Etsy instead. Same Disney look, without anything digging in or sliding off by lunchtime.

Shop on Etsy → Minnie Clips

AirTag Shoe Inserts

A wandering child in a crowded park is one of those moments every parent dreads. An AirTag shoe insert gives you one more tool that may help locate them if you get separated. I like it as an extra layer of reassurance in a crowded park, not as a replacement for keeping a close eye on little ones.

Shop on Amazon → AirTag Shoe Inserts

Portable Neck Fan: The Heavy-Duty Pick

This is the one I'd want on the truly hot Disney days, the kind where you need serious airflow and don't want to think about holding anything. It's not the smallest or most discreet option out there, but when it's 90 degrees and you're standing outside in July with nowhere to hide from the sun, that stops mattering.

Best for: really hot park days, anyone who runs warm, and anyone who wants powerful, hands-free cooling.

Shop on Amazon → Portable Neck Fan

Portable Cooling Fan: The Coldest Pick

This is the one to pack when you actually want to feel cold, not just have warm Florida air blown back in your face. On the brutally hot days, standing outside waiting for a parade, transportation, or in an outdoor queue with no end in sight, this is the fan I'd reach for when I really want to cool down.

Best for: the hottest Disney days, and anyone whose first question about a portable fan is "but which one actually gets the coldest?"

Shop on Amazon → Portable Cooling Fan

Portable Fan: The Sleek Pick

This is the one I'd choose when I want something small, sleek, and easy to actually carry around all day. It tucks into a park bag without adding one more bulky thing to everything you're already hauling, and it's just as easy to pull out for a quick minute as it is to put away again.

Best for: anyone who prioritizes portability, wants something that lives easily in a park bag, or just prefers the more compact option.

Shop on Amazon → Portable Fan

Which one should I pack?

Want hands-free and heavy-duty? Go with the neck fan.
Want it actually cold, not just moving air? Go with the cooling fan.
Want the smallest, sleekest option? Go with the portable fan.

Lume Deodorant Wipes

Nobody warns you that a "quick trip to Disney" turns into a 12-hour day on your feet in the sun. Lume Deodorant Wipes live in the bottom of my bag now, and a mid-afternoon wipe-down before dinner reservations has saved me more than once.

Shop on Amazon → Lume Deodorant Wipes

Disney Park Bag Essentials

These are the things that consistently earn a spot in our Disney park bag. Not everything is glamorous, but every item has saved us time, money, or a meltdown at least once.
  • First Aid Kit

A small kit with bandages, antiseptic wipes, and basic supplies. You don't want to be searching for a blister bandage or treating a scraped knee in the middle of your park day.

    •  Recommended First Aid Kit: Amazon

  • Blister Pads / Moleskin

Disney is not where you want to discover your shoes start rubbing after mile six.

    • Recommended Blister Pads: Amazon

  • Anti-Chafe Stick / Body Glide

Florida heat, humidity, and long walking days can be a rough combination. Much better to have this before you realize you need it.

    • Recommended Body Glide: Amazon

  • SPF Lip Balm

Easy to forget, easy to toss into your bag, and worth reapplying throughout the day.

    • Recommended SPF Lip Balm: Amazon

  • Lightweight Rain Jacket

Florida rainstorms tend to show up with very little warning. We prefer lightweight jackets that fold down small and can live in the stroller or park bag without taking up much space.

    • Recommended Rain Jacket: Amazon

  • Extra Pair of Sneakers

Do not bring one pair of shoes to Disney and assume everything will be fine. Between the miles of walking, Florida rain, and shoes getting soaked unexpectedly, having a second comfortable pair back at the hotel can save the next park day.

    • Recommended Sneakers: Amazon

  • Waterproof Shoe Covers

While a poncho or rain jacket keeps your clothes dry, nobody talks about how miserable it is to spend the next six hours walking around Disney in soaking wet sneakers and socks. These waterproof shoe covers slip right over your sneakers and help keep your feet dry when the afternoon rain rolls in. They're lightweight, reusable, and easy to tuck into your park bag until you need them.

    • Recommended Waterproof Shoe Covers: Amazon

  • Extra Pair of Socks/Underwear

They take up almost no room and can rescue the day after a water ride, rainstorm, spill, or one of the many mysterious things that happen when you're traveling with kids.

  • MagicBands

If you're using MagicBands, get everyone connected and ready to go before your first park morning. One less thing to figure out at the front gate.

  • Simple Modern Minnie Backpack

This is the bag that holds everything on this list. We cover why we love it, and how it holds up through 12-hour park days, in Disney Parks Essentials above.

  • Portable Charger

Between the My Disney Experience app, Lightning Lane selections, mobile ordering, ride photos, maps, and wait times, Disney can absolutely drain your phone battery. This is one item we'd never enter the parks without.

    • Recommended Portable Charger: Amazon

  • Wipes

Kids, snacks, sticky hands, tables, spills, and mystery messes. They earn their space every single day.

  • Travel Tissues

Tiny, lightweight, and surprisingly useful.

    • Recommended Travel Tissues: Amazon

  • AirTag

We keep one in our park bag and one attached to the stroller.

  • Stroller Hook

Helpful for hanging shopping bags, refillable water bottles, rain jackets, and all the random things that somehow accumulate throughout the day.

    • Recommended Stroller Hook: Amazon

  • Personalized Stroller Name Plate

Disney stroller parking can become a sea of identical strollers. Cast Members often rearrange strollers within the parking area, so making yours easy to spot can save a surprising amount of time. Etsy has lots of cute customizable options.

    • Recommended Personalized Stroller Name Plate: Etsy

  • Reusable Straws

Disney uses paper straws in many locations. If you're not a fan of soggy paper straws, a reusable straw is worth carrying.

    • Recommended Reusable Straws: Amazon

  • Small Ziploc Bags

Someone will eat three bites of a Mickey pretzel and suddenly be done with it. Or, if you're staying Club Level, you'll grab some cereal or snacks from the lounge for later. Small Ziploc bags are one of those completely unglamorous things you'll be genuinely happy you packed, and they're just as useful for wet clothes, tiny toys, and all the random things that accumulate in a stroller by the end of the day.

    • Recommended Ziploc Bags: Amazon

  • Reusable Water Bottles

Long Disney days and Florida heat make it so easy to get dehydrated without realizing it.

    • Recommended Water Bottle: Amazon

  • Face Sunscreen

Bring a travel-size option that's easy to reapply throughout the day because sunscreen only works if you'll actually use it.

    • Recommended Face Sunscreen: Amazon

  • Snacks

Especially if you're traveling with kids. Sometimes having a familiar snack ready immediately can completely change the trajectory of your day.

  • Hand Sanitizer

Self-explanatory at Disney. Bonus points if it's something fun you'll actually remember to use.

    • Recommended Hand Sanitizer: Amazon

  • Small Activities for Waits & Restaurants

Bring one or two small, mess-free activities for restaurants, transportation, and longer waits. We share our favorite kid-friendly options in The Family Essentials section, so head there for specific picks.

Cruise Essentials

Cruise cabins can be small, storage is tight, and motion sickness is never fully optional, so a little prep here goes a long way.

In This Section:

Magnetic Hooks

Magnetic Hooks solve the storage problem cruise cabins are famous for. Stateroom walls are metal, closet space is minimal, and a few hooks by the door or bathroom mirror suddenly free up real counter and drawer space you didn't know you had.

Shop on Amazon → Magnetic Hooks

Magnetic Fan

Cruise cabins can feel a little stuffy, especially when you're getting ready or winding down after a long day. A Magnetic Fan is an easy way to keep air circulating without taking up valuable counter space. It attaches to compatible metal surfaces, making it especially useful in smaller cabins where every inch counts. Just be sure to check your cruise line's rules before packing one.

Shop on Amazon → Magnetic Fan

Motion Eaze Oil

Motion sickness is the other thing worth planning for before you board, not after the ship starts moving. Motion Eaze Oil is a nice option for families because it's all-natural and drug-free, and it's fine for kids.

Best for: families who prefer to start with a drug-free option.

Shop on Amazon → Motion Eaze Oil

Nausea Relief

For a non-topical option, try Sea-Band Nausea Relief for Adults and Sea-Band Nausea Relief for Kids. These products use acupressure instead, which some families prefer over anything ingested.

Best for: families who prefer to start with a drug-free option.Shop on Amazon → Sea-Band Nausea Relief for Adults, Sea-Band Nausea Relief for Kids

Travel Dramamine & Motion Sickness Gummies

If your family feels comfortable giving medication, Travel Dramamine, and the Motion Sickness Prevention Gummies for Kids round out the options. Worth packing more than one type, since what works varies a lot from person to person.

Shop on Amazon → Travel Dramamine, Motion Sickness Prevention Gummies for Kids

Disney Cruise Essentials

Disney Cruise Line adds its own packing category entirely, mostly thanks to Pirate Night. These are the pieces our clients ask us about most:

In This Section:

Girls' Pirate Costume

Pirate Night sells out of costume rentals onboard fast, so bringing your own, especially in a child's exact size, tends to make the night go smoother than hoping the ship's supply works out.

Shop on Amazon → Girls' Pirate Costume

Pirate Night Mickey Ears

I would grab these too while you're at it. It's a small thing, but it's the detail that pulls the whole costume together, and it's one less line to stand in once you're actually on the ship trying to get everyone dressed.

Shop on Amazon → Pirate Night Mickey Ears

Pirate Tattoos

I'd also toss these into the bag because they are inexpensive, easy, and honestly the thing the kids get the most excited about.

Shop on Amazon → Pirate Night Tattoos

Mom's Pirate Dress

And don't just dress up the kids. Mom's Pirate Night Dress and Corset mean the whole family's actually in on the fun.

Shop on Amazon → Mom's Pirate Night Dress, Corset

Disney Cruise Mouse Ears

Grab a pair of Disney Cruise Mouse Ears while you're at it. Not everyone wants to go full pirate, and these work for absolutely anyone on the trip, kid or adult, pirate-themed night or not.

Shop on Amazon → Disney Cruise Mouse Ears

Disney Cruise Door Magnets

These are one of those things that are both fun and genuinely useful. Decorating your stateroom door has become a favorite Disney Cruise tradition, especially for kids, and it also makes your room much easier to spot after a long day when every hallway starts to look the same.

Shop on Etsy → Disney Cruise Door Magnets

Travel Toiletry Essentials

The most time-consuming part of packing is packing your toiletry bag. So let's avoid it and keep a toiletry bag pre-stocked so it's ready to go and you can just throw it in your luggage.

In This Section:

Skin Product Recommendations

Cleanser:

This is a great one for travel if, like me, you're not an oil cleanser person. It leaves skin feeling genuinely clean without that stripped, tight feeling, which matters even more after a long travel day than it does at home.

Shop on Mara → Mara Aura Cleanse Foaming Gel

Face Mist:

A hydrating face mist is one of those small things I'm always glad I packed, especially after a long flight or a full day out. These are both favorites of mine, and the smaller travel sizes make it easy to just toss one in a carry-on without thinking twice.

Shop on Kleos + Klea & UBeauty → Kleos + Klea Essential Minerals Mist, UBeauty Bioactive Mist

Sunscreen:

This is the sunscreen I actually reapply, which is kind of the whole point of owning one. No white cast, no greasy feel under makeup, and I genuinely don't mind putting this on three times a day at the pool.

Shop on Amazon → Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen

Serum:

Hotel water, recycled plane air, and a new environment every few days all add up on your skin more than people realize. If you've ever come home from a trip with skin that just feels "off" in a way sunscreen alone doesn't fix, this is the one I'd pack.

Shop on KNOCKOUTBEAUTY → Editrix Bacterium Delirium

After-Sun Gel:

For the sunburn you swore you weren't going to get. This gel calms things down fast and heads off the peeling that follows a day spent outside longer than you meant to be.

Shop on FWRD → Tanning Club Hydration Gel

Exfoliant:

This is what I specifically pack when there's an actual event on the trip. A wedding, a night out, whatever it is. A few minutes with it before getting ready gives you that immediate glow, no facial required.

Shop on REVOLVE → Tracie Martyn’s Enzyme Exfoliant

Makeup/Getting Ready Product Recommendations

Tinted Moisturizer:

A heavy foundation is the first thing to wear off in humidity, so I reach for this sheer, tinted-moisturizer formula instead on warm-weather trips. It layers over sunscreen without looking cakey and doesn't need constant touch-ups once you're sweating through a beach day.

Shop on Sephora → MP.H Le Skin

Hair Product Recommendations

Hair Mask:

Vacation hair takes a real beating after exposure to sun, salt water, chlorine, and more styling than usual, all in the same week. On a longer trip, I'd pack this specifically because it repairs hair in a way regular conditioner just isn't built for. My hair never comes home feeling like straw after using this.

Shop on Violet Grey → Filament Tensile Strength Treatment Mask

Hair Brush:

Hotel hair dryers and unfamiliar water do enough damage on their own without a bad brush making it worse. This one is small enough to actually travel with, and it genuinely changes how your hair looks by the end of a trip, not just on day one.

Shop on Goop → La Bonne Brosse

Styling Oil:

My pick if you've got fine hair, since lightweight is hard to find in an oil. Most oils feel heavy the second you hit humidity. This one genuinely doesn't.

Shop on Moda Operandi → Roz Saint Lucia Styling Oil

Hair Elixir:

This goes on before I even leave the house, because humidity and hotel hair dryers are never a good combo. A little goes a long way toward hair that still looks intentional by the time you're at dinner.

Shop on Amazon → Magic Myst Hair Elixir

Hair Oil:

Between pool chlorine, salt water, and blasting hotel AC all week, hair takes a real beating on vacation. This is what keeps mine from feeling like straw by day three.

Hair Taming Wand:

The styling tool that actually gets used on a trip, unlike the full-size ones you leave at home. It's small enough to pack without a second thought, and it handles flyaways and touch-ups without hogging the one outlet in a tiny hotel bathroom.

The Best Packing List Is The One That Makes Your Trip Easier

The goal isn't to buy everything on this list. It's actually the opposite.

The best travel products are the ones that solve a problem for the way you travel, whether that's getting a toddler through an airport without carrying them, keeping everyone entertained on a long flight, finding your stroller at Disney, or finally keeping your suitcase organized for more than 24 hours.

These are the things we genuinely use, recommend to clients, or believe are worth considering after planning a lot of trips and learning what actually makes travel easier.

Start with the kind of trip you're taking, think about what tends to make travel stressful for you, and pack accordingly. You probably don't need everything here. But the right few things can make a surprisingly big difference.

And as we discover new products that genuinely earn a place in our suitcases, we'll keep updating The Packing Edit.
